I'm
Rachel Behan and I'm the proud proprietor of Silver Lining
Sewing Rooms in Blackburn,
Lancashire. I happily offer you my services as a highly trained,
degree qualified
and time served seamstress :)
I'd
like to share a bit about myself, how Silver Lining Sewing
Rooms came into being and
how it has grown over the past year. For an up to the minute

My
background
I
attended Liverpool
John Moores University back in 1999 and left with
a BA(Hons) degree
in Fashion and Textiles. At uni, I received formal training
to the highest standards on the
techniques involved in hand-making dresses, tailoring, making
new and unique patterns for
custom
dresses and creating toile's (a mock-up dress as part of the
design process). The
3 year course culminated in a full scale fashion
show where I designed, produced and presented a complete catwalk
collection in front
of large audience.
Prior
to university, I attended Blackburn
College and did a BTEC National Diploma
(the equivalent of 2 A-Levels) in Textiles. This course gave
me a thoroughly insightful
understanding of the property of fabrics, how they behave
and how they work together,
and formed a good foundation for me to undertake my degree.
These
qualifications were then put into practice for the next 7
years whilst I worked
the sewing rooms at Dan
Kerr Brides Ltd. (Blackburn). I was head seamstress
in the rooms at the rear of the shop where I took fittings
and professionally altered
wedding, bridesmaid and prom dresses. Working to the highest
standards, I made
each and every dress absolutely perfect for each bride, bridesmaid
and prom queen!
Silver
Lining Sewing Rooms
I
am now able to open my doors to my own customers.
Those same sewing rooms I
ran at Dan Kerr have been transformed into a beautiful place
for me to create your
perfect dress.
The
past year has shown me that more and more people are choosing
the couture
design service. I have a team of fantastic ladies that aid
me in this endeavour; hand
picked, very talented and artistic seamstresses, each with
their individual strengths and
creative flair. Between us, I'm sure we can make real your
wishes and create garments
to take your breath away.
So
